Body Wisdom

Everyone has a body: resourcing and relaxation for all

Ideal for gatherings in public spaces such as libraries, community centers, schools, and places of worship, this one-hour workshop focuses on gentle, somatic exercises designed to introduce a general audience to the benefits of somatic awareness and relaxation.

Body Wisdom workshops are a refreshing antidote to the heaviness and urgency of modern life. Together, we relax the mind and body, and reconnect to our own stores of vitality. One of our most valuable assets is our attention. Body Wisdom gives participants a chance to experience what it feels like to guide their own attention and cultivate awareness.

We begin the hour with a simple practice of orientation and awareness, noticing the sights and sounds around us. From there, we turn our attention to the body. Underneath the normal activity of everyday life—the talking, thinking, ruminating, and problem-solving—is a level of awareness waiting for our return. What do we notice when we focus on our shoulders, our hands, and our feet? How does awareness of the body change what we notice about ourselves, others, and our environment? Our exercises offer opportunities to pause, notice, relax, and (re)connect.

Work + Wellbeing

Customized workshops for companies and organizations

Work + Wellbeing workshops are customized programs designed for forward-thinking, mid-sized companies who are interested in providing somatic resourcing and support for staff and team members.

Teams need replenishment, in the midst of busyness, work, and productivity. Work + Wellbeing workshops help team members to take advantage of an invisible asset: their attention. Simple gestures of relaxation—lowering the shoulders, relaxing the muscles in the face, and softening the jaw—can be profound. Taking time to do these practices during the workday is a powerful antidote to hamster-wheeling, procrastination, and feeling overwhelmed.

Our simple somatic exercises can:

  • Improve stress resilience

  • Improve focus and concentration

  • Enhance communication skills

  • Counteract procrastination

Giving team members a structured break from their primary activity, helps them:

  • Open the door to creativity

  • Reduce stress

  • Replenish their energy
